PE firms are building new value creation and portfolio resource groups to play more of a hands-on role with portfolio companies from due diligence through to exit.

The Challenge

These new departments and this new breed of talent need to be multifaceted and are often over-stretched. As a result, they’re over-reliant on traditional consulting partners who are not equipped to provide the Portfolio Companies with the capabilities they need.

Creative agencies and marketing service providers aren’t much help either. Agencies have underserved the PE industry, and the PE industry has underleveraged agencies for years. This is because the PE industry is a market that creative agencies were designed to ignore…their vernacular, business models, deliverables, speed (or rather lack of it) and the challenges with quantifying and measuring ROI, have made any marriage all but impossible.
